  • Food: Pretty much anything!
  • Color: Blue (but I’m color blind… so that explains why I don’t match some days)
  • Sports: Football (STEELERS! In fact never wear Eagles, Patriots, Ravens, Browns, or Bengals attire to rehearsal… never…)
  • Classical Composer: Hector Berlioz
  • Concert Band Composer: Too many to pick from!
  • Concert Band piece to listen to: Maslanka’s Symphony No. 4
  • Non-concert Band… Band: Weezer

Hobbies:

  • Vinyl (is there any other way to listen to jazz?!?!?!)
  • Tropical fish
  • Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Playing gigantic woodwind instruments
  • Playing golf… poorly… very poorly. In fact, most golf courses will pay me not to play.
  • Movies

Interesting facts:

  • I love wings! The hotter the better!  Ever want to master the art of eating wings?  I can help.
  • I did not decide to play an instrument until 6th grade and started two years behind my peers. It is never too late to start!
  • I am really good at growing hostas plants in my yard.
  • I almost quit band in 7th grade.  My middle school band director and my parents didn’t give up on me and I won’t give up on you.  I did not even decide I wanted to get into music education until I was in 10th grade.  I know I would not be the person I am today without participating in band regardless of my chosen profession.
  • I hate touching raw meat. HATE IT!  Needless to say, I am a really bad cook.
  • One of my biggest stress relievers is studying/prepping conductor’s scores for band (don’t judge).
  • I worked at Hersheypark in the Games Department throughout high school and college. I am legit at wacky-wire, milk can, and skeeball.  My children do not want for stuffed animals.
  • I was an athlete in high school as well. I threw the shot put and discus.
  • I once scored front row seats to a Steelers game on Sunday Night Football—home side seats right above the tunnel where the Steelers enter the locker room at the end of each half.  Jason Worilds handed us his wristbands after the game!
    • On a side note… we did not get home until 4am from that game. I still got up and taught the next day!
    • On another, sadder, side note… the Steelers lost that game to the Bears.
  • I own my own contra clarinet (don’t judge).
  • I own my own alto clarinet (seriously, resist the urge… but please don’t judge).
  • I love everything about the beach except the beach itself. I love the boardwalk, games, rides, the whole beach lifestyle, but I hate the actual beach (not sure which one I hate more… the beach or raw meat).  To me, sand is glorified dirt.  I prefer a clear, clean pool.
